THE PATH OF LEO.
I thought that looked a pretty uninteresting topic today. The example the MACMILLAN DICTIONARY gave was to do with the path of an oncoming car. Oke, thought I, DREARY. Then I started looking for images and things widened up a bit. I am thinking about the PATHS of people and things that I do not wish to get in front of.
Like – NEVER TRY TO CROSS THE PATH OF A TAUREAN OR AN ARIES OR A LEO. Probably not a CAPRICORNIAN either.
I say that because when they are on a Path, its no mean task to stop them, or slow them down, or suggest an alternative course.
Leo, up above, was trained as a racehorse and my friend Al, from Bowraville, tells me that Leo is likely to run round in a circle , or straight ahead because that’s what his training has taught him. He is also trained to not stop. He is a racehorse. He is NOT going to meander or follow the natural paths of a country life. That doesn’t only apply to horses.
It also brings to mind a radio show I listened to in Queensland, an interview with an Autistic Author who spoke of driving along Coronation Drive. he said something to the effect of – imagine all the cars and buses weaving in and out of traffic as they headed along Coro and then imagine Tram Tracks that didn’t and couldn’t deviate from the where they were laid. Autism, he said, was like the Tram Tracks. Same starting point. Same destination – but no weaving in and out of the traffic and the obstacles. The path was Fixed.
Back in 1987 when I was in the Langton Clinic for Alcoholics and Drug Addicts, Pat the Rat, described a similar effect for the Alcoholic. She said something along the lines of : “ The alcoholic WILL go home. The mind is made up and the Alcoholic is ‘going home’ – no matter what. “ That attitude sees Alkies hop into their cars. They have a path to follow and follow it they will, regardless of drunkenness, regardless of people, places and things that are ‘ in the way’.
Maybe an outcome orientated life is a fine thing for some – a dubious luxury. Like the shining concrete paths I have been looking at. As for me, as for me, I love the Meandering Life. I like to follow a path one step at a time, feeling for the nudges and looking for the clues. My Ancestors were Pioneers in a new Colony. My father was a Pioneer in the Army 2nd AIF. Its in the blood. PATHFINDING.
PATH – the course or direction in which a person or thing is moving : the missile traced a fiery path in the sky
ON PATHS OF THEIR OWN.
