24 DECEMBER 2011 : IN THE BETWEEN

009

BETWEEN ROOMS IN THE FEDERAL HOTEL BELLINGEN.

ON THE eBENCH in the early morning.

With kookaburras laughing and chuckling and rousing and visions of new residences dancing in my head. For $300 per week, I could rent a fine old house but I won’t have $300 per week. For now I look at another small cottage on another small hill overlooking another small river and next door to the owners in the big house and the STONE PILLOW dream returns. I would like to live in Bellingen town for a time but there seems to be nothing I can afford ‘at the moment’.  Once again, I look at moving in the strange nomadic life of the single woman renter and am weary at the prospect – so I am sitting here – between homes once more. Between lifestyles. Teetering as a pensioner, between realities.

We came late to living together, the man I am with and me. It seems to me that old ways are deeply embedded and the cracks keep reappearing no matter how we try to seal them up. Its my personal Christchurch. I am as shaken as some of the people I watched on television last night. Like them – I am not sure I can go on living in this City of 2. Like them, the way out looks tough.

Between times once more.

I like the slanting, troubling angle in the 2nd image. It reminds me of the pebble in the monk’s sandal.

I don’t know how I missed this post last week. Take a look.

That is a top post. I liked the mask on till I turned 60. Something changed then and I have turned to face myself. Distressing and oddly reassuring. I shall ask Izzy to tell me his story about the coup-le with barnacles and then I will pass it on to you.

And there is FRIZZTEXT once more. Fast as. I shall try to post a picture for him in Germany of a Gypsy wedding here in Australia last month of a local girl to a Berliner. In the meantime, with the black chook on the verandah and the Burras laughing loud, into the Great Google :

  1. Between the words, I had to stop and have for a moment appreciate the beautiful and warm thoughts you shared. Such a generous person. I hope you get to find you place soon but for now, home is where your heart is. Where you are most happy, that is home in a way. I too had been some sort of nomadic. I stopped counting the many places I lived. Soon me and my family will be in for a huge move that will change our lives but I realize now that wherever I may be, regardless how big or small my dwelling place is, I am home when I’m with them. And that’s all that matters. Thanks for sharing. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Wishing you and your love ones joy, peace , good health and love that would last for always….
