DECEMBER 27 2011 : She had the loaded handbag of someone who camps out and seldom goes home, or who imagines life must be full of emergencies. Mavis Gallant.
A YAAN AT NIGHT.
Taking a double shift on the eBENCH today. I didn’t expect BETWEEN to keep gathering meaning for me. Back when Dad was in his 80s and longing for death, they were transferring him from one temporary respite centre to another. One well-meaning nurse said to him “ think of it an a learning experience, Bruce.” He gave her his “ I wouldn’t piss on you from a great height” sideways look and said “ I have had quite enough learning experiences for one lifetime.”
Well, that’s how I feel tonight. Another dratted ‘ between’ time.
THE PASSION FLOWERS AT THE BEDROOM WINDOW.
BETWEEN YOU AND ME, this one had me perplexed. I could think of a quadrillion “between” shots and I saw some impressive and novel posts from other Bloggers but nothing caught my fancy – not quite. Till this morning. Good Morning CONSPIRACY OF RAVENS. That post tickled me. I am up early and now I am up early AND giggling thanks to the SPACES BETWEEN picture.
It still leaves me fairly idealess for myself on this week’s Photo Challenge but that’s no matter. It’s the week between Xmas and the New Year. It’s a week I am very fond of. The week of Grand Reflection that leads me out of 2011 and into 2012. Maybe a photo challenge image will come during this week Between the Years. One image per day from the week between. First one is this mirror pic that I took yesterday. Thinking back over the year that took my sister and an ex lover, a good friend and the son of some old companions of mine. This year that was filled with the delight of my daughter and the departure of my son and his family for the nether regions of NSW. Thinking about the collapsing form of the life I have been leading during 2011. Between Homes. Between Years. First day of the Week Between was Kati B’s birthday We didn’t meet up. I stayed home on a day of almost perfect weather.Perfectly to my taste. I stayed home and didn’t leave the property at all. The owners are away and we have acres to ourselves. And critters. I hhosed down the verandahs and did some washing. Hung it on the line on the verandah with my new bionic pegs. A little old couple from up the Tablelands in Uralla designed the pegs but couldn’t get them made in Australia and had to get it done in China. I bought 4 packets at $7 a packet because I liked the little old couple when I met them selling at our local markets. They are GOOD pegs. No hinges and they hung on to my clothes through pretty powerful winds yesterday.
Today. I have a meeting in town at 10 a.m. I’m planning to take a look at the beach. They say it was closed yesterday. Too wild. Tides HIgh and Big Swell. Might poke my nose into the real estate agent as well since affairs are seemingly leading me to moving out on my own – again. Then home to go on with the Week Between’s reflections on 2011. Reckon that might add some more grizzle to the face below.
