THE YAAN :  Funny how thoughts like these arouse more antagonism in the breasts of readers than do other uglier concepts. REMEMBER HOW REALLY SMALL THEY ARE.  Auntie Jean was a great one for banging on pots and pans. She used to sit kids down in the kitchen and leave them to it. Nana Bell was the ‘ throw them in the salt water’ grandmother. Growing up as a loved child does something noble to a person.

The Australian Government just introduced a reduction in the single parents’ pension. That’s to ‘ motivate’ single parents back into the workforce by starving the children. Makes it hard for the parent to “ BE THERE”.  To sit in school assembly and wave to the little people. To walk slowly to school, taking time to jump over the cracks in the footpaths and count the numbers of the houses.

What a fine thing it is to be part of a child. To hear shrieks of laughter and to explore a new world. Some say that there are more important jobs – like making coffee for strangers. Leave me to the  non-violent parenting and grandparenting. Leave me to the paddling in the water and dreaming and when you look at children – REMEMBER HOW REALLY SMALL THEY ARE. Look for the Good and stop yelling.
