Topic: Do you want to live forever?

Topic #29

Here’s today’s topic, brought to you by Plinky.com:

If you could live forever, would you? Why or why not?

If I were in China, reincarnation would now be banned so I would be thinking of other ways of staying around and this could be one of them.

I am now reaching the stage of contempt with prior investigation and am looking around for a different topic source for blogging. I don’t think PLINKY was designed for this purpose at all. I joined it yesterday and I like it but I am pretty sure it wasn’t meant to extend a blogger’s skills or interests. The hunt is on for me.

One word answer to the question  above. Maybe.

Two word answer – maybe not.

Overworked topic. I leave it alone and begin to bring in my findings online.

Here are a couple of hints from MARS on the CREATIVE PENN. He has plenty more.

Use language that is appropriate for your brand. You shouldn’t use the boring, corporate style anymore.

On moving from ideas to results. Mars sets a time limit and sees it like a computer game , as a warrior who has to complete certain tasks

Topic #28 If stranded on a desert island, and could only bring one music album with you, which would it be? What is it about this music that never gets old for you?

WINTERSUN 2 004 IZZY SPRAYEDLess than a month into this challenge but still struggling with the topics and giving myself only till end of January before I diverge from this path and find a different direction. I have now actually taken a look at Plinky and I like it but don’t think much of it for guided blogging.

For me, I wouldn’t be taking any music to a desert island. I have a musician for lover so I would take him and he could sing and play mandolin for me.

Topic #27. Who are the three funniest people you know personally?

Here’s today’s topic, brought to you by Plinky.com: Who are the three funniest people in the world? Who are the three funniest people you know personally?

What’s with the comparisons all the time ? The MOST. The BEST. The FUNNIEST. My 3 little girls are the funniest in the world. I also know them personally.

For me, things are not very funny at the moment and I choose not to engage in this topic either.

Topic #25 : What is your favorite sound ?

IZZYAGEDTopic #25:  Here’s today’s topic, brought to you by Plinky.com:

What is your favorite sound?

Bonus topic: Since we did the sound of your own laugh recently, here’s a bonus – what is a sound you’ve never heard, that you hope to hear someday?

Kookaburras. And black cockatoos and the endless deep silence of life in the country. I like the moment between beats that I read about and baby’s voice at the other end of the phone.

I do not have a favourite sound. I have many. The sound of my young adult children laughing with one another. The horses in our front paddock when its dark. The possum thudding onto the rail where the birds are fed.  Today I go travelling by Greyhound Coach. I’ve not been on Greyhound before so we will add the noise of Greyhound Travel to the bonus topic. Just a short 2 hour trip. I have a bag to pack and things to organise in my head but first I shall sit a moment and think some more about the SOUNDS. Might do a pictorial wander.

I like the sound of the XPT trains down a 1/2 kilometre or so from here with the ever mournful horn blowing as it comes to Yellow Rock Road level crossing and back here near the sea, when the conditions are right, I can hear the ocean again.

ClassicFM on the radio. With Emma Ayres for breakfast.

And I would like to hear Magby  and Rose’s voices, close at hand and filled with laughter and the small daily doings of young lives.  I should like to hear my man with a band of his own again and the whisper of stars.

Topic #23. Is it always better to know the truth, even when it hurts?

Photo double twist: Take a picture of a thing that expresses a truth.

Topic #23

Here’s today’s topic, brought to you by Plinky.com:

Is it always better to know the truth, even when it hurts? Or is ignorance bliss? Or are they both true some of the time?

Bonus twist: how does your opinion on truth jive with your opinion of wikileaks?

I am a Truth want to Know-er. Its not exactly that I WANT to know. Its simply that something in me seems to Know anyways and does better when the Unknown  is labelled. I don’t fancy eating food from a can with its label ripped off and I don’t fancy life without its own labels and nor do I fancy the wrong label on each of my daily cans.

Its worth a look in the QUOTE GARDEN before starting on this one.

Not so long back, I read a short statement: “ Dishonesty makes people afraid.” It says a lot more than it seems to do at first glance.

The Truth About Dishonesty Why we all lie at times – and what to do about that.

Peter Gerlach makes 4 suggestions that I think I shall try this week :

  • Observe your behavior with people telling you unpleasant truths – e.g. am I too critical, indifferent, or shaming? Do I make it too unsafe to tell the truth?
  • Ask liars “Am I doing something that makes you feel unsafe?” – and then listen;
  • Replace shaming accusations and judgements like “You’re a liar!” with something like “I’m sad (and/or frustrated) you feel too unsafe to tell me the truth.” And you can…
  • Teach young kids to (a) grow healthy self-respect and confidence, and to (b) recognize, validate, and manage their fears, so they feel more comfortable telling unpleasant truths.

I’ve struck two full on USA pages by googling on this topic. I am Australian and we tend to be rather more laid back and fairly sceptical but I am going with these two pages today and see what happens.

The first is the Gerach Knol called “ The Truth about Dishonesty” and the second is by someone called Gary King who writes about the POWER OF TRUTH.

Here’s the link to his site and the page I intend trying.

24 HOUR TRUTH CHALLENGE.

The Power of Truth™

Here’s how it works…

There is no such thing as an inconsequential lie.” – Gary King

Lets see how Truth looks to me at the end of these two exercises. One of the principles I have been taught to live by is “rigorous honesty’. I guess that because certain things have worked for me as a recovering addict, I carry them into the other areas of my life in expectation that they will also work on those areas. The HOW is what we call it. HONEST OPEN and WILLING.

Where I hit a little confusion is finding a path between rigorous honesty and brutal frankness. Same thing happens with “ truth” and what appears to be the truth to me at this time.

I won’t write much more on this topic with a brain leaping all over the place looking for TRUTH. I shall simply close with this one from Flo.

“I am not asking you to be good. I am asking you to be Upfront.”

Hmmm – thought I to myself – I suspect its easier to be “good” than to be ufpront.

In closing I shall take a look at some Historical Australian Newspapers on the subject of TRUTH.
