I have just realised that I have had a most romantic life. A LIBRAN life. Now I sit, enmeshed in discussions of Woolworths and Power Bills and begin to die. I have taken to formally sitting for a half hour each day.  It seems that out of that has come this realisation. I have lived a most romantic life. I am Libran by birth. I live the romantic life  again or I perish before I wish to.

THE YAAN.

Taking an eBENCH break for 10 minutes or so.  I am off to Bellingen. The Baby is still not UP on her feet so we are going to town to try to keep her occupied in the pram and car. When I come home, I shall take a good sitdown with you and have a Yaan about the North Country. North Coast NSW and the northern rivers which are my heritage and some looking at further north where the cane fires burn.

This song is not about my area but the feeling is similar and I miss the cane fires. They are just a little further North from me here.  This song is about the Far North of Queensland. I shall leave you with it till later this afternoon.

AFTERNOON YAANING WHEN YOU’RE NOT UP ON YOUR TWO FEET FOR WALKING.

2.28 PM. One minute while I pour boiling water on the sliced ginger I have in my glass mug. I call it ginger tea but I don’t think anyone else would.

Right. Settled down for a little.  Storm clouds are gathering for an afternoon kebang. The Cheery Redhead  sees our local doctor this afternoon and we have HIGH HOPES. UP NORTH is a delicious topic. I grew up in the City of Sydney, was sent South to Rosewood nr Tumbarumba to teach. That’s way down South. Moved a little further North to teach in Queanbeyan nr Canberra and headed North swearing never again to be COLD.  In fact after a 12 month stopover in Sydney, I took off in the Mini-Moke with Tony B all the way to PORT DOUGLAS in the Far North of Queensland and lived on the 4 Mile Beach in a tent to recover from the Southern Experiences. I do SOUTH very poorly. I would like to live barefooted on an island in a sarong.

I have ended up back in New South Wales  in my own Northern Rivers. For the time being and for lots of other times as well. I have also been North on the Tweed River and the Queensland Border and that’s what I’m missing a little now. The Cane Fields mostly. My 3 favourite things are water, sugar and fire. Up there on the Tweed, I had all three. The romantic life lives even further  UP the map. Up North, where Bell is about to marry her man. Up North, where I hunted crocodiles.  Up North, where most of the rest of the World is. I lived with a man who went to the Whitsundays quite recently. He didn’t take me. The relationship has bled from that ever since.

AND FURTHER NORTH STILL :

I don’t have photographs of the Far North Queensland. It was 1973 when I was there.  I surely would like to see it again. I would like to go up there.

Let’s take a small look at the Far North.
