Tip No 24 : Take what everyone thinks and explore the opposite.

THE YAAN.

I didn’t have breakfast at home today. I went to Bellingen and met the Girls and ate at the VINTAGE NEST.  I was up very early to watch the Dawn. I am NOT going to the Big Town this Xmas. I am NOT going into modern buildings that I don’t like nor buying things from the Big Shops. I haven’t bought one single gift as yet – but not from a Scrooge mindset. Just a’quietly thinking about things.  My sister and my daughter love Christmas and are the brilliant gift givers. But last year was Susan’s last Christmas and I don’t seem able to rally for this one – not just yet.

CELEBRATION.

TAKE WHAT EVERYONE THINKS AND EXPLORE THE OPPOSITE.

This  is my choice for my CELEBRATION shot of the Week. The Girls are two sisters at the funeral of my sister. I’ve chosen it because it expresses both joy and grief to me and holds both the past and the future in one moment.

CELEBRATING IT ALL.

Sit down. Breathe
in, breathe out.
Close your tired eyes.
Basho is sitting beside you—
a guest in his own house.

TAKE WHAT EVERYONE THINKS AND EXPLORE THE OPPOSITE.

I shall sleep on this one.

Good Night from me and Paul Kelly.

11 DECEMBER 2011 : ABOUT THAT SECOND HANDSET and the celebrations of 2011.

MARKO AT NO 5 CHURCH STREET BELLINGEN

THE BRIEF YAAN.

Another evening’s music in Bellingen for us. Music and good food and ‘ ambience’. That’s what its called – AMBIENCE. Takes me way back to the 70s and as Izzy said, it makes us feel like ordering cinnamon toast.  I had the chickpea simmer again and a lemonade with honey and a man called Marko took the corner stage. Good Stuff. After years of “Blues” and “Jazz” and other genres, a Muso doing music I know inc Woodstock . What fine times !

I haven’t been doing well with the Blues since I sat one night in the Bilambil Blues Club and chatted with the Blues Muso, expecting him to have had as suffering a life as mine and to be poverty stricken and renting a shack. I am a musical Virgin so I have had a few shocks since I started going to “gigs” in 2007. That night with Scrubby of the Hillbilly Blues Bandits was one of the first major shocks because he wasn’t at all a homeless guitar player with noone to love. He had a home and family and day job and coached the kids’ soccer team. I was very disillusioned and haven’t really accepted the Blues since then.  I kind of think you should have the Blues to sing the Blues. Apparently not !

It reminded me of the Bikie with whom I spent a night once, long ago.  A Bikie should be a Bikie but this one  got home and hung his colours neatly in a plastic suit cover at the opposite end of his wardrobe from the clothes he wore for his day job. That was somewhat of a shock as well.

Personally – I have never worked one day in an office. Ever.

I don’t know anything about Marko. We had the high table next to where he was playing and we liked him. That’s enough, that is. He played music which FITTED him.

As for the 2nd handset. Well. I have a 3 handset phone layout. I also have a granddaughter under 2 years of age and she once hid one handset in the sugar cannister. We found that one. While I was in Sydney, a second handset vanished and hasn’t been found. The other day another one disappeared. The blame seemed to be with the granddaughter but I suspected it was me who had ‘ misplaced ’ it. Sure enough, one week later, i.e. today, I found it at the bottom of my washing hamper. Only one more to locate. Cause for celebration, methinks.

Meanwhile: Back at No 5 Church Street :

THE YAAN.

An early eBENCH today.I didn’t get back to you for the rest of yesterday’s post because the day grew into a series of celebratory events. The Markets, Dinner at No. 5 Church Street and Jazz and Honky Tonk at the Bellingen Golf Club.  I was intending to tell you the story of last year’s stolen Xmas tree But the Picture can tell you the story for now.

Today is Sunday here in Australia. The sun is out and its nigh on a perfect day for me. The theme for the Photo Challenge is CELEBRATION. Reckon I will just take a look at what’s being offered and post the links for you. Celebrating at this time of the year is a Summery thing for us in Northern NSW. Later, I will be doing a meeting in the old hall at Raleigh and then inland 10 kms or so to Bellingen for Afternoon tea with Blues at No 5 Church Street and SOFA ON THE LOUNGE down at the Golf Club.

In the meantime, lets take a look round the world – somewhat – and see how they celebrate things.
